The AFC Children's Home

Artists for Charity operates a children's home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for HIV positive orphans. The Home provides all the basic necessitites for caring for these children, such as food, shelter, medical attention, and school fees and supplies. In addition to the bare minimum, however, the Home focuses on creating a small, family-like environment that resembles a typical home. Click here to visit the Artists for Charity Children's Home.

AFC Studio at Elks Aidmore

Our studio at Elks Aidmore Children's Center in Conyers, Georgia, is an outlet for young female residents of the center. The studio offers the girls an opportunity to explore the arts hands-on, with other working artists, in a professional studio environment. The studio encourages developing art as positive vehicle for self-expression. Interns, volunteers and practicing artists are invited to create a flow of diverse perspective. Workshops, presentations and off campus events are all part of the program. Click here for more on the AFC Studio. Click here for information on Elks Aidmore Children's Center.

Southern Ethiopia HIV Educational Campaign

Artists for Charity and partner organization Working to Empower are working with the Hamar community in Southern Ethiopia to develop the Hamar community and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. One of the oldest untouched cultures in Ethiopia, the Hamar society has maintained their population and customs for hundreds of years through traditional means. Recent movement of peoples, road construction, the creation of larger towns, and the tourist industry have introduced foreign disease into the Hamar region, HIV/AIDS being of particular concern. Due to physical and communication barriers, knowlege of HIV is lacking, and for those who are aware, prevention and healthcare are minimal. The Educational Campaign reaches out to isolated communities like Hamar, providing pertinant and accessible information about HIV/AIDS. For more information, click here.
