Southern Ethiopia HIV
Educational Campaign
Artists
for Charity and partner organization Working to Empower are working
with the Hamar community in Southern Ethiopia to develop the Hamar community
and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. One of the oldest untouched cultures
in Ethiopia, the Hamar society has maintained their population and customs
for hundreds of years through traditional means. Recent movement of
peoples, road construction, the creation of larger towns, and the tourist
industry have introduced foreign disease into the Hamar region, HIV/AIDS
being of particular concern. Due to physical and communication barriers,
knowlege of HIV is lacking, and for those who are aware, prevention
and healthcare are minimal. The Educational Campaign reaches out to
isolated communities like Hamar, providing pertinant and accessible
information about HIV/AIDS. For more information, click

Volunteer and Educational Services
As part of our goal to
connect communites, we provide volunteer services for Ethiopians abroad
and opportunities for members of the Ethiopian diaspora to work in their
home communities. Our educational services include seminars on current
issues in Ethiopian communities both at home and abroad. Topics include
women's rights, HIV/AIDS, children's rights, investment opportunities.
AFC provides a safe environment for anyone to volunteer in Ethiopia,
either with us or with one of our partner organizations. For more information
